10 thousand Pounds A Night, never underestimate the power of Dua

The first time I made Dua consciously, was on Eid 5 years ago. I received the response of the invocation the next day and my life changed drastically. I end up being in a different country, speaking a different language, writing in different language, being around different people. However as the years went by I forgot about the power of Dua, I forgot about the promise I made to the creator. Miraculously it did not change the course of my life and the nature of the Dua. would it been for my own endeavours trying to keep the promise,Wa’llahi you would not read a single letter on this blog.Yet here I am speaking to you  in the first person and telling you that this post in itself is the empirical evidence for the Power of Dua.

Two weeks ago Islam Hounslow rekindled the very feeling that I had 5 years ago by raising 10 K in a night for Syria. Who would have thought 5 years ago that Social Media could have such impact on a micro campaign

10k

The 10 K a night fundraiser campaign consisted of 3 minute videos as update to motivated people to donate. A good way of stimulating the engagement between donors and raiser. Brother Imran Ibn Mansur or also known as Dawah Man ( may Allah   keep him sincere and raise him in the highest ranks in jennah)  was constantly updating the whole process. Usually fundraisers are announced or scheduled. Well not this time 7 hours  is all what it took to raise 50% of the the target.

A night of Spirituality and unity among the Ummah, was the best example of what we could do if only would work more cohesively.

Beside the £10, 000, Islam Hounslow also were involved in completing a 40ft container. The container was full of clothes, food and toys for all ages. An initiative that has become unusual Ramandan, which is slowly fiding it’s way back to the Muslim community.

islam hounslow

Islam Hounslow is currently working in partnership to “Shoebox4Syria”. The concept behind the campaign is simple, but could mean a world to the children in Syria. 5000 shoeboxes full of gifts for children in Syria for Eid 2014.

noaman

The inspiration for the idea came last year when Islam Hounslow was part of UK´s largest convoy to Syria in Europe. This pretty much was the stepping stone for west London based Dawah organisation to continuously support the humanitarian causes to for the people of Syria.

Shoebox4Syria’s mission statement in about Sharing mutual feelings  during Eid with the people of Syria. If smiling is charity, a smile on these children faces is well deserved .Celebrating Eid knowing the Muslim across the globe are in peace,is what Shoebox4Syria want to achieve.
The idea itself is really pragmatic, have at least 5000 shoeboxes, filled with presents for the Children in Syria before Ramadhan.
Mangerial skills and lot of Dua are needed. Holding horses back would only decrease the productive capacity of the project. 5000 boxes compared to 2 million displaced Syrians is only the beginning of this long journey. It only take us hours to raise 10, 000 pounds what could we do in months, or years with the combined force of the Ummah and the help of Allah

Ayesha a 18 year old Activist from Middlesbrough is the brain child behind the project “Disconnected” and  LiL Ayesh Production. She studies Childhood at University and is in the process of becoming a fitness instructor. She currently works NUR Fitness where she caters for women and children. The Middlesbrough activist  has clearly a busy lifestyle and is far away from slowing down the pace.

Box 1

The best example for that is the “Disconnected”  project. It reflects the problems many teenagers experience. The Project targets at teenagers, from the  age of 13-16 and specified for Sisters.  Ayesha says that brothers also could benefit from the project regardless of the fact her main target are women.  The Project Itself has a more spiritual approach and focuses on filling the holes in the engine that pumps just more than gallons of blood.

box 4

The Heart or the soul in today’s society is vulnerable to many things. Well people may debate whether the soul exist, but knowing  that Britain is one of the leading countries in Europe where people commit suicide, another question arises what the factors is for this self-destructive trend among the public.  Ayesha realises a lot that can be  done in the age we live. There is a lot more possible due to the technology. She says ” The whole project is based on the heart,  its condition and it’s connection with Allah especially through salah. It’s going to tackle the struggles teenagers go through like zina, free mixing and music. The 18-year-old understands that Youngsters will not understand it if you simply tell them that it is forbidden, rather she wants to show how these things do affect them and the consequences of it .The  first year student  started wearing the Niqab and praises Allah (  سبحانه و تعالى   )  for it .

box 2

She says she got involved with the Dawah while being at College  She says ”  I would say I started getting involved in the da’wah whilst in my first year at college. I went to an art college, majority of the students were non-Muslims, I was studying graphic design among 40 to 50 other people and I was the only Muslim student. I found it difficult at first as I really stood out among the non-Muslims as I wore the hijab and abaya and I would say it was in college when I found my real identity and became who I am

After her second year of College she underwent An IERA dawah course and ever started from there to build up her experience in the Dawah scene. She joined IDC North East (Islamic Diversity Centre) they do lectures for non-Muslims, social initiatives, school workshops. She says what really helped was the good company around her and inspirational figures like Imran Ibn Mansur or also known as The Dawah Man.

Its admiring knowing that there so many young souls out there striving the better the society. In Ayesha instance where does she get her energy from she says beautifully “What drives me is doing anything which means I’m struggling for the sake of Allah, it’s just that feeling of struggling for the sake of Allah that’s what drives me, there’s nothing like it. From my experience when I was in college there’s no struggle like giving da’wah. I want to be able to die upon tawheed being able to say the shahadah, and I know it’s not going to come easy, so just doing anything I possibly can until then”

“Disconnected”  will be launched soon.  And there is certainly  more in store from LiL Ayesh Productions.

The Dawah Movement is taking a different direction. A direction that will reach people across the globe if Allah SWT permits. Internet da ee and activist Imran Ibn Mansur or also known as Dawah man( may Allah swt bless him) is the prime example for that. The Veenna Malik and Mike Tyson campaign engaged thousands of Muslim and non-muslim online. This method seems to work really well. The current campaign “Dawah To Eminem” accumulated over 10 thousand  views in less then 24 hours. Renown poet and Internet sensation Kamal saleh becomes an an inspiration for Dawah man with his version of  “Who is God- Allah ,Jesus or Eminem” which is currently has over  120,000 views see.

Dawah to MTV is not a new methodology, if one studies the Seerah ( the life of the Prophet) carefully. Dawah to the leaders was a thing our noble Prophet  also practiced . A powerful leader might reject the truth because of his position, however the followers could be touched by the message.

We all have doubts and recognize few dangerous traits in the society .The Celebrities we see now a days have great impact on peoples lives. Eminem in particular is most of time seen as lyrical genius and known for his unmatchable rhyming skills. History repeats itself and so do the people and the characters. Pre-islamic Arabia had an obsession with poetry. We have an obsession with glorifying people, that breath sleep, and eat like you and me.

Dawah to MTV is a tool that will liberate minds and be a means of emancipation for the minds . We are currently working on few online shows that share the same ideology. One show in particular, which focuses on celebrity  culture is called ” On the wrong Carpet” that will be launched later this month. The intention is to attend red carpet events, film  festivals, fashion weeks and Box office premieres.
